CRS Points Calculator 2023

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system that is used to assess and score a candidate's profile to rank them in the Express Entry pool. Candidates who have the highest scores are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Core/Human Capital Factors

  • Age (maximum 110 points): Points are awarded based on the age of the applicant.
  • Level of Education (maximum 150 points for single applicants, 140 points for candidates with a spouse or common-law partner):
  • Points are awarded for the level of education, e.g., high school, bachelor's degree, master’s degree, etc.
  • Official Language Proficiency (maximum 160 points for single applicants, 150 points for candidates with a spouse or common-law partner):
  • Points are based on ability in English and/or French in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Canadian Work Experience (maximum 80 points for single applicants, 70 points for candidates with a spouse or common-law partner):
  • Points are awarded for the number of years of work experience in Canada.
  • Spouse or Common-Law Partner Factors (if applicable)

Level of Education (maximum 10 points):

Points are awarded for your spouse's education.


Official Language Proficiency (maximum 20 points):

Points are awarded for your spouse's language skills.


Canadian Work Experience (maximum 10 points):

Points are awarded for your spouse's work experience in Canada.


Skill Transferability Factors (maximum 100 points)

Education and Language Ability, or Canadian Work Experience (maximum 50 points):


Combination of education and language ability or Canadian work experience.

Foreign Work Experience and Language Ability or Canadian Work Experience (maximum 50 points):


Combination of foreign work experience and language ability or Canadian work experience.

Additional Points (maximum 600 points)

Provincial Nomination (600 points):


Points awarded if you receive a provincial nomination.

Offer of employment (50-200 points depending on the job's NOC code):

Points awarded if you have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.


Canadian Study Experience (up to 30 points):

Points awarded if you have Canadian study experience.


Sibling in Canada (15 points):

Points awarded if you have a sibling living in Canada.


French Language Ability (up to 30 points):

Additional points for proficiency in French.
